This morning I was greeted by Zoe standing up in her crib for the first time. I have to admit, it made me a little teary. She was bouncing up and down- clearly pleased with herself. In the video you can hear her saying her favorite new word: "Uh-Oh."
Zoe turned 10 months old on Sunday. Here's a look back at a picture from May and one from August. I didn't think it was possible, but I do believe her cheeks got bigger.
May 2008 & August 2008
Updates & Milestones:
- Zoe is very chatty and says a few recognizable words over and over: Mama, Dada, Uh-oh, & Wow.
- Zoe is pulling herself up to standing on all of the furniture now, including her crib.
- She waves hello and claps. (The clapping is especially cute when she applauds herself for eating.)
- Blowing raspberries is very popular, especially with a mouth full of food.
- Zoe gets around by army-crawling and is very close to crawling on her hands and knees.
- Our biggest challenge at the moment is sleeping through the night. Zoe is still waking up at least 3 nights a week at around 4 am- a very uncivilized hour.
"Spicy Girls" Birthday Party
In other news, we attended a group birthday party this weekend for the families in our China travel group. It was wonderful to see everyone again. The girls are all very close in age and will turn one within a few weeks of one another. (FYI- Zoe is actually the youngest girl in our group of 14. She doesn't turn 1 until November.)
In case you're wondering about the "spicy girls," it refers to the province where the girls were born. When any of the Chinese locals heard that our daughters were from Jiangxi province, they said "Oh, spicy girls." Apparently, Jiangxi is known for it's spicy cuisine.

Hating the party hat.
We tried to recreate the famous red couch photo at the party, but it was just as big a calamity as the original attempt in China. At least Zoe didn't cry this time :-)
