Welcome Home Zoe!

We've been home for a little more than a day now and we're slowly recovering from a BRUTAL 28 hour journey home. We left Guangzhou at 5:30am Wednesday, flew to Hong Kong, from Hong Kong to Chicago, then Chicago to Boston. Miss Zoe was a trooper the whole way. She slept for a good portion of the 13 hour flight from Hong Kong to Chicago. (Word of advice to other parents traveling with infants-- buy the extra seat. It is worth every penny.) On the last leg of the journey our flight from Chicago was delayed for 2 hours. We nearly burst into tears. We were supposed to arrive in Boston at 9:30 but didn't touch down until well after 11:00. We were greeted at the airport with tears and hugs by Mark's parents and two of our very dear friends (and honorary grandparents). We finally got Zoe into bed around 1:00 AM and she (mercifully) slept until 5:00 AM.

One very cool item of note: upon arrival in Chicago, Miss Zoe Lu, former Chinese national, became an official US citizen.

It's now Friday morning. Mark and I look and feel like 40 miles of bad road. The 12 hour time difference and serious lack of sleep have beat us to a pulp. We are very thankful to our friends and neighbors who stocked the fridge with food and champagne, made us non-chinese food meals and decorated our home and yard with signs and balloons. (Thank you Ann, Sam, Melissa, Karen & Doug!!!!) We are so grateful to be home.

Welcome home! I'm so glad you made it home and that Zoe did well on the trip. Roman, Michelle and I are dying to meet Miss Zoe once you've all gotten settled in and recovered from jet lag.
