The first 24 hours...

The past 24 hours have been extraordinary. The most unbelievable little girl has come into our lives. Oh, and by the way- she's legally our daughter now. We spent the entire day driving from one government office to another, signing forms, answering interview questions, and notarizing documents. As of noon today, Zoe Xin Lu legally became our daughter. Welcome to the family!

Now, before the grandparents stage a revolt, I finally have a moment to post a few pictures. These are only the ones from Mark's camera for now-- I will upload mine, plus the "gotcha day" video, later on today. I promise.

The first photo was taken about 20 minutes after we first got her. It was chaotic in the conference room. The orphanage officials called each family up one by one to get their child. Mark and I were the 6th couple to be called. They checked our passports against the adoption documents and then handed Zoe to me. She didn't cry. She just stared at us with wide eyes, not entirely sure what to make of the situation. Then she put her head on my shoulder. I will never ever forget that moment.

This photo was taken a few hours later at lunch. She LOVES Mark's goatee.

OMG!!! I'm so thrilled for both of you! I must say you both look very good with a baby in your arms. Zoe is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for FINALLY posting pictures. My mom and I were ready to join the revolt. :)
